The Cemetery Entrance Gate is Up!

After many hard years of organizing, fundraising, and building relationships with Nasielsk town leaders, the Nasielsk Society arranged to have the welcome gate placed on the site of the Jewish cemetery in Nasielsk in March 2021. The gates were built by a local artisan in Poland and incorporate two windows from the great Synagogue of Nasielsk recovered in 2019. The Nasielsk Society was instrumental in reclaiming these panels from a local resident which allowed them to once again be a part of the Jewish community. We are indebted to the support of FODZ, Nasielsk mayor Bogdan Ruszkowski, our project manager Katia, and many others, in helping us achieve this monumental task! A dedication of the gate is being planned.

On the left is a picture of a window in the Nasielsk synagogue. Above is a picture of the same metal and glass windows that had been used in a local residence and which we recovered. You will notice that the windows have been turned on their side in the residence.
